Side/top hung Restricted friction hinge - Similar to standard friction hinges but incorporating a safety restrictor which allows the window casement to open approximately 100mm at which point a safety catch has to be manually released to allow full opening. Particularly useful in high buildings and for child safety. 13mm stack height. Each pair consists of 1 restricted hinge + 1 standard hinge. Window handing must be specified if used in a side hung position. Available in two sizes (requires screws). To comply with BS8213-1:2004 'Code of Practice for Safety in Use and in Cleaning'. The unobtrusive mechanism which is integral to the hinge requires some strength and dexterity, and two hands to co-ordinate opening, giving added protection. Automatic reset ensures safe operation at all times. Windows incorporating the hinge are tested to meet BS EN 14351.1:2006 'Load bearing capacity of safety devices'. Suitable for PVCu timber or aluminium windows, the Restrictor hinge comes in a wide variety of sizes. Slotted fixing holes in the base channel provide maximum sash/frame adjustment.
